About Gunhild

Gunhild is a professor and an awarded Excellent Teaching Practitioner at The University Centre in Svalbard, with extensive experience in safety science. She is dedicated to human factors and a systems approach in safety thinking and safety management in high-risk contexts, as well as learning processes in higher education from a psychological perspective.

Research area mainly within the area of safety psychology, safety management, and human factors in high-risk industries, including the High Arctic context with natural hazards.

Gunhild holds a PhD in Psychology with a focus on risks associated with the introduction of automated technology in the Petroleum industry on an oil and gas producing platform.

Works with safety psychology and human factors, particularly within:

  1. Arctic Safety
  2. Safety and emergency preparedness management
  3. Human–machine interaction in high-risk contexts
  4. Higher education teaching and learning
