Join the 4th edition of SCOPE
From 13-14 November the students of UNIS invite all students to join the Student-led Conference on Polar Environments, a conference by and for students. Register for the conference before 15 September!
Why join SCOPE 2026? Well, the conference offers a low‑pressure environment to present share research, exchange ideas, receive feedback, all this while you meet and network with fellow students across disciplines and study levels (Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD).
If your work is related to polar environments or polar science, this is your podium.
The conference will be held at UNIS in Longyearbyen, but you can also join the conference online.
When joining SCOPE you have two ways of participating:
- As an active participant where you present your work as a 10-minute presentation or a poster.
- As a passive participant where you attend the presentations, discover exciting research, and connect with other students.
What can you present?
- Course or group projects
- Thesis ideas or preliminary results
- Research in progress or completed studies
- Project proposals or concepts

There is none!
This year’s conference is funded by UNIS and the new CAFE project, NSO, the Svalbard Environmental Protection Fund, and iEarth.
