Regulations for External Exams for Students at UNIS

A. Criteria for taking an external exam at UNIS

  • The individual must have student status at UNIS at the time of the exam.
  • The student must apply to exam@unis.no 4 weeks before the exam date (in exceptional cases, discretion may be exercised regarding this deadline).
  • The exam must be within normal working hours at UNIS and start at the same time as other exams. Normally, this is at 09:00 Norwegian time.*
  • Exam papers must be received by the Study Department three working days before the exam (preferably digitally).
  • The Study Department primarily sends answers back via email, or by courier if required.

B. The responsibilities of the Study Department includes

  • Processing applications for external exams and providing offers/denials.
  • Arranging the exam venue and supervision during the exam.
  • Contacting the home university and arranging the transfer of exam papers.
  • Informing the student of the attendance time.
  • Receiving exam papers from the home university.
  • Preparing the answers for return to the external institution.

C. The responsibilities of the student include

  • Applying through Nettskjema no later than 4 weeks before the exam.
  • Staying informed about the exam and the practicalities surrounding it.
  • Checking that the Study Administrative Department (exam@unis.no) has received the exam papers within three working days before the exam and following up with the home university if they have not been received.
  • A fee of NOK 500 will be incurred if the student does not attend the exam and does not have valid absence.

*Exams are not held on official holidays in Norway.
