For the very first time, the University Centre in Svalbard had a candidate competing in Forsker Grand Prix and Pernilla Carlsson made killer presentations at the regional finale in Tromsø. Both her four-minute and six-minute presentations received a lot of applause and very positive comments from the jury.
Owned the stage
The jury noted her ability to combine humor and relevance.
– I am very impressed. You really own the stage, said jury leader Ketil Høegh.
Jury member Eirik Mikkelsen from Norut noted that Pernilla managed to put her research into a larger, global context.
Although Pernilla had very good presentations, it was Runar Gjerp Solstad, from the Norwegian College of Fishery Science in Tromsø, who won the first place in the competition. Both will compete in the national finale this coming Saturday in Oslo.
