In 2020, 299 students from 32 countries spent shorter or longer periods at UNIS, including both course students and guest students. Norwegian citizens (43%) were the largest group, followed by students from Germany and the Netherlands in second and third place, respectively. The drop in student numbers are due to the Covid-19 pandemic and cancelled courses.
In 2019, 743 students spent shorter or longer periods at UNIS, including both course students and guest master’s students. 50% of the students came from programmes of study at Norwegian universities, the rest from international universities.
UNIS and UiO want to find answers to a number of questions related to the energy transport through the polar atmosphere. In a giant research project, the “Grand Challenge Initiative – Cusp” (GCI-Cusp) with twelve rocket launches, researchers aim to solve some of the puzzles.
