Based on the current Covid-19 national regulations and on direct advice from the infection control doctor at the Longyearbyen Hospital, UNIS has decided that all teaching shall be digital throughout the month of January. This decision might be extended depending on the national and local infection control rules.

UNIS has decided to run all the semester-long courses, running from January through May/April 2021. The shorter master’s and PhD courses scheduled in spring are cancelled.

The management at UNIS has carried out a thorough analysis of what “new” normal situation we can aim for this fall. An important element of this analysis has been safety. UNIS will make every effort to ensure that those already present at the institution can be here with minimal risk of Covid-19 infection. UNIS’s corporate social responsibility is also emphasized in this context.
