Stipends available for UNIS students and staff

26.02.08

The Jan Christensen endowment for Norwegian students and staff at UNIS has a number of stipends available. Application deadline is March 7, 2008.

Text: Eva Therese Jenssen

The purpose of the Jan Christensen endowment is to provide financial support for studies and research at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS). The financial support is for Norwegian students at the bachelor-, master-, or Ph.D. level who have been admitted to UNIS, and also for Norwegian scientists working full-time or part-time at UNIS.

The endowment allows for funding of housing costs in connection with studies at UNIS, travel costs in connection with conferences outside Svalbard, and scientific equipment for research projects. Larger research projects can also receive funding from the endowment. Projects involving students will be given the highest priority.

The application must include a CV and motivation letter. If the applicant is applying for project support, a full project description must be submitted with the application. A detailed list of what kind of information the application must include is found here (Pdf in Norwegian).

Application deadline:

March 7, 2008

Applications are evaluated by April 1, 2008.

The application can be submitted via e-mail to post@unis.no
