Selected examples of photos obtained by the automatic camera CAM11 since May 2000

A project funded by the University Courses on Svalbard (UNIS) 2000-2005.

This series of photos was selected from a larger database containing daily exposures. The direction of viewing is towards E. The lower part of Longyearvalley with part of the town Longyearbyen is visible in the lower foreground. UNIS is located just outside the left-hand limit of the picture. In the background part of the major valley Adventdalen is seen together with the mountain massif Operafjellet (960 m asl.) as backdrop.

This series of photos makes a monitoring feasible of various terrain characteristics such as, e.g., the detailed distribution of snow, avalanche activity, fluvial activity, etc.

Date of exposure is given below each photo. All photos are displayed in reduced resolution compared to the original exposure.
