General Courses

UNIS offers three general courses for our students:

The Arctic Survival and Safety course (AS-101)
This course is mandatory for all undergraduate students and students staying at UNIS for 6 months or more.
Note: this course cannot be applied for separately and is only offered to enrolled students at UNIS.

The history of Svalbard (SH-201)
This history course gives an introduction to the history of the Svalbard archipelago, and is open to all enrolled students and the Longyearbyen public.
Note: this course cannot be applied for separately - applications are submitted after the arrival at UNIS.

The Fossils of Svalbard and the Evolution of Life (AG-213)

This course is open to all enrolled students and the Longyearbyen public.

Note: this course cannot be applied for separately - applications are submitted after the arrival at UNIS.
